Liege-Bastogne-Liege 2008

261 km of racing with over 4500m of total climbing didn't stop the riders with the best form from expressing some truly exceptional performances on the last tough parts of the course:

- 5'20" on the Redoute (2.1 km at 8.4%), with a VAM = 1980 m/h, equal to 7.0 watts/kg on such an average gradient

- 4'10" on the Roche aux Faucons (1.5 km at 10%), with a VAM = 2160 m/h, equal to 7.20 watt/kg

- 3'00" on the Saint-Nicolas (1 km at 11.1%), con una VAM = 2220 m/h, equal to 7.16 watt/kg.

Valverde easily dominated the sprint over an always excellent Rebellin, seeming all the more as the possible next multi-victory L-B-L champion next to Argentin and Merckx in the coming years.
